The Cocteau Twins were quite possibly the best thing ever to come out of Scotland. That includes incomprehensible accents and men wearing tartans skirts(... sorry, I mean 'kilts'). Other stuff that was good:

4. Talking Heads frontman David Byrne
5. Sorry, couldn't think of a fifth one :(
